Management Information System
–A combination of computers and people that is used to provide informatioTn to help in decision making and management in a company or any institution.
Difference between MIS, CIS, and IT.
CIS = Computer Information Systems
MIS = CIS, refering to the same thing.
The term information technology (IT) represents the various types of hardware and software used in information system, including computers and networking equipment.
Quality of Information System
Is measured by its ability to provide exactly the information needed by managers in timely manner.
The information must be accurate and up-to-date.
Users should be able to receive the information in verity of formats: tables of data, graphs, summary statistics, or even pictures, or sound.
Why is Information Technology is Important?
•IT made it possible to deal with huge amount of data.
Management in the Information Age
•Managers should have experience in the fields they manage. Like an accountant becomes a manager in accounting firm, he/she should be able to participate in productivity also, plan, organize and communicate.
• Managers should increase productivity without incasing number of workers every year.
•Getting work done faster at lower cost.
Important skills in the information age
•Teamwork and communication
Is a key element in business, changes has been made is to support collaboration tools that make it easier to share documents and work as teams.
•Must work in the future. You must plan for tomorrow and build the structure and processes to handle the day to day tasks.
