هل نظام ويندوز يعتبر modular ؟

أكيد طبعاً, يعني حيكون الHardware Device و الNetwork Protocols و الGUI و الFileSystem و الأقسام المختلفة متلخبطين على بعض :lol:

يبدو ان برق قد قرر الانتقال الى الويندوز أخيراً :D

ام انه فقط يبحث عن نقطة ضعف في الويندوز ;)

Windows is not a modular operating system. It has a lot of components such as IIS and IE that are deeply hooked to the operationg system.

Modularity has its advantages and disadvantages, as any design choice do.

Advantages:

1-The system is extensible.

2-The failure of one module of the system doesn't mean that other module will be affected.

3-Higher security.This is very clear in IE, where hackers could attack the windows through IE, because it is very much hooked to the operating system itself

Disadvantages:

1-Difficult to program an operating system that can run multiple modules without getting into threading problems.

2-No unified programming model, where every developer is able to write his own application with his own programming model, which can give big differences in performance and code stability between different applications.

Microsoft with the .NET is moving to a middle point between complete modularity and no modularity, which I think is the best possible architecture in the current time.

بعد البحث و الاستقصاء ظهر أن نظام Windows ليس 100% Modular و هذه من بعض أسباب المشاكل التي يتعرض عليها في أوروبـا حيث أن الاتحاد الاوروبي يُطالب Microsoft بنسخة أكثر Modularity حتى يمكن فيها الاستغناء عن بعض التطبيقات الاحتكارية مثل الIE و Windows Media Player ...

و بالفعل تعتبر (Windows Vista (longhorn متجهة بقوة نحو الModularity فقد تم فصل الUI عن الKernel Mode كما تم أيضاً فصل و تجميع بعض الأجزاء في Modules كبيرة مستقلة مثل(Windows Presentation Foundation (Avalon و(Windows Communication Foundation (Indego و Windows Workflow و أيضاً Win Fs

هل يمكن أن توضح أكثر ،لأن هذا الكلام بهذه الطريقة ليس صحيح تماما.

1-An operating system that run multiple modules that are all separted from each other- this is the meaning of a modular OS or application- requires managment of resources ( such as processor, RAM, Buses, etc) between modules which run on multiple threads. Managment of resources between multiple threads or modules is difficult - but not impossible of course- and has its problems such as dead locks, managment of priority, etc.

2-For a non modular Operating system you have a specific way for programming your applications -for example Win32 API and the similar APIs for windows- so all applications share a unified programming model.

For modular operating systems, multiple programing models are allowed, which can cause incompatibility problems and great variation in performance and stability between applications.
