please would u explane to me how to use xml as an db or index for aprject

is their any rules that controlled the writing of such file or any rule in the path of that file

i know that it may a stupid questions but realy im facing an exception in my code that telling me that the argument is out of space( im using a combobox that its items are updat at runnig time )

another think is that i have red in one of the articles in the site that using xml not efficient and need more space and time please

tell me is that mean that using db is much better

i hope u understand my question even i know that its not so clear

but that is becouse its not clear for me either

so i hope u can help me

If you need to save a lot of data, sure Database will be more efficient but if you just save some records you can use XML,

first you should define a schema of your XML file using XSD, then you can use a DataSet to use this file as a database like add, delete, whatever and also using one function SaveToXML and LoadToXML will make the save & Load operation to and from Dataset

could u give me an example // code// for reading or making a query from XML file

and does it need a data base conection? or tell me where i can find such

please all what im trying to do is tomake a query that return one value and put it in a texe but i dona wana use data set becouse of alot of resones

what i have!!! :unsure:

i have 1 -dbf table that even cant be open or read by acsses

2- a program that convert a dbf files to xml one

and im trying to do what i tell you above

and for all my query statement i wrote and try to execute i allways have the same exception which is a ==> An unhandled exception of type 'System.Exception' occurred in winformsedition.dll

Additional information: Error Executing SQL Statemen

i dont know may be my statemet (sql one) is wrong but i wrote it just as i see it writin in msdn

im suffring here please help me in what way to chose and how to do it
