Plagiarism is presenting somebody else’s work as your own.

It includes behaviour such as: copying information directly from the Web or books without referencing the material; submitting joint coursework as an individual effort; copying another student’s coursework; stealing coursework from another student and submitting it as your own work.

Suspected plagiarism will be investigated and, if found to have occurred, will be dealt with accordingly.

1. Rationale

Students will study certain topics related to data networks. These topics are not covered during course sessions and the development of these topics will also provide to students a useful foundation for subsequent courses.

For developing the teamwork skills, two or three students may contribute in doing the assignment.

2. Outcomes

• To become familiar with certain topics in networking: network architecture, protocols and systems.

• To gain some practice in reading information available on Internet and critically understanding the presented data.

• To gain some communication skills in scientific report writing and clearly presenting the studied area.

3. Brief

Introduction

In “Data Networks” course, we mainly covered topics related to switching and routing. Other topics may be considered as a useful addition to better know the structure and functionalities of networks and Internet.

Students should select and fully study only one. They should then write a report about the selected topic using their own words. The study report should be well structured and clearly presenting the selected topic. Students should also make reference to any paper or article available on the internet related to any presented idea in their report.
