Abstract

We decide to design a system that will efficiently exploit a parking lot and help in the process of parking a car. Our system "PARKING LOT MANAGING SYSTEM" consists of two parts, the hardware and the software that will do the management. It is an automated managing system for a parking lot.

Our system will use varies surveillance components such as: digital cameras, sensor devices. The sensors will work with software part to keep track of the number of vehicles that are inside the parking lot and to store the duration of parking of a parked car. The system will provide some information for the drivers, outside the parking lot yet, about the number of vacant parking spaces, if there is any. The locations of some of the vacant parking spaces are displayed for the drivers, in a gate screen, before they get into the parking lot. This will save time and effort of the drivers.

The digital cameras will work with software part to store some information of cars inside the parking lot to be retrieved later in case of security problems.

Automatic and manual gate control is provided with our system. The automatic control will be performed in the busiest time, which will be known by the system from previously stored data. Some of the manually actions that our system provides is the ability to reserve some of the vacant parking spaces for VIPs.
