This database shows the use of the Access ActiveX Progress Bar. I put it together as I saw a question re. how to use it posted on the forum and also as it is another good example in the use of Form Class Properties - see my Custom Input Box Demo. It also, again, includes the discrete Class Module for Form Positioning - this interrogates the screen and form co-ordinates which can then be used to position the form.

In this demo :
A Progress Bar can be a useful way of informing users that something is actually happening when a long winded piece of processing is on the go. What is required is a maximum number for the task, e.g. the number of records to be processed, this being passed to the Progress Bar. The task is then performed by code that includes a loop which at intervals passes a value, equal to the amount of work done, e.g. the number of records processed so far, to the Progress Bar. This value is then calculated as a percentage of the maximum and displayed on the Progress Bar. This demo example just runs it on a loop to show the principle. The <Run Progress Bar> toggle button will run the demo, during which the loop value is updated from the loop and the toggle is shown as down - raising at the end - to show that the processing is still with the main form and the Progress Bar is just an indicator.

There is a checkbox which when unchecked hides the form during the run of the Progress Bar.

There is an About Box that shows how, by using the timer to work the Properties and Methods of the picture holder, simple animation can be achieved. The Custom Input Box Demo shows the use of this Form Class more.

Then there is this Read Me form.

The form positioning is done by wrapping the clsFormPosition Class Properties and Methods, these can be expanded upon to give for instance a cleaner Maximise than Access. If the form is a PopUp the positioning works at screen level but if not then this is within the application window. Again, the Custom Input Box Demo shows the use of this Class more.

This is a demo, put together to be just that and, I hope, be of some help to anyone looking at this aspect of coding for the first time. It shows 1) A demo of how to use the Access ActiveX Progress Bar. 2) Form Class Property principles that can be used with other forms (and do not forget that Reports are also of the Class type!). Please feel free to dissect, adapt, and improve the code for your own use if you so wish.

Good luck with all your work...
