Compiler by [seVen]

Introduction:

This project is a very simple runtime compiler for VB & CSharp. The compiled application is entitled
Compiler.dll. In short it uses the CodeDom features of the Microsoft.Net Framework to compile runtime
executables and libraries in VB or C#. The ultimate goal of this project is a class that is able to
load both languages from a common exe.

Basic Usage:

Open a .vb or .cs source file from the file menu(or create it in the SourceBox).
(There are a few simple apps located in the default Open directory.)

In the MainClass textbox specify the name of the entry class with applicable namespace pointers.
		(ie, MyProject.MyClass)

In the Project menu specify the language(VB or CSharp).

In the Project menu add any references needed to build the file(See Compilers.Builder.AddRef and
		Compilers.[VB\CSharp].LoadDefaultResources).

Name your project in the Name textbox and specify exe or dll.

In the Project menu click Build.

The output is a dll or exe file located in the Application.StartupPath directory. The BuildFile method
runs this file if a successful compilation occurs. There are options in the Parameters object that will allow
you to compile the file to memory instead of disk. Future releases of this code will be able
to take sources from both languages and rewrite them into a single language(most likely VB) by
parsing conversion strings.

What You Can Offer:

Being new to the .NET Environment, there are a few things that I have not yet been able to do. Some of
them used to be second-nature tricks that I used to use all the time. MS changed alot with .NET and those
tricks are gone. If you know how to accomplish any of the following with VB 7 then by all means, e-mail me:

Find a method that returns the .Net runtime folder path for referenced dll's such as System.dll.

Get rid of that stupid console window(I can't seem to shake it!).

Ideas for script conversions. I'm thinking you read a source file with FileOpen and parse in
enouph information to compile c# to memory from VB or visa-versa before sending it to one
of the Compilers. It would produce a virtual file that an application could build and reference
at runtime. The application would build and execute or reference this file each time it loaded. If you
were deveoping a VB app and wanted to add C# code you would run a tool or add-in that converted the
C# source at build time to a 'parsed-string command' version of the code. For example, if you were
importing the following line of code it would parse into compilation as so:

				Original C# line of code:
					public int num = 1;

				Parsed to VB for VBCodeProvider:
					SourceLines.Add("public int num = 1;")

SourceLines would then be sent to the Compilers class to compile and execute the C# file
in memory so that both languages are used from a single compiled executable.

Maybe even enumerate everthing that is available in a referenced dll to create an IDE or
		.NET add-in.

		Why?
This technology would be useful for cross-language development with a team of
developers. I am looking for a way to parse multiple languages into a single exe or dll.

Any help or ideas are welcome.
