1. Introduction
   ------------

The Arabic components are a set of standard Delphi
components which were modified to take advantage of
the capabilities of Arabic Window 95.

2. Installation
   ------------

To install the Arabic components:

2.1 Run SETUP.EXE from the installation CD. Installation
files are copied to the <Drive> and <Path> of your
choice. The Arabic components are in the Package
     <Drive>:<Path>Arabicd301.dpl. The Help system is
     installed automatically during setup.

2.2 Load the Arabic Components onto the Design Palette.
       Start Delphi3
On the Menu Bar, click Component | Install Packages...
The Project Options - Packages dialog box will appear.
       Click Add button
       Navigate to <Drive>:<Path>
       Choose Arabicd301.dpl
       Click Open button.
       Click OK button.

3. Using the Arabic components
   ---------------------------

The Arabic components duplicate, to as great an extent as possible,
the behavior of their English counterparts. All Arabic components
share a single new property - "Arabic" - a boolean value which
defaults to True. See the help file for further details.

4. Database
   --------

4.1. In order to use the Arabic database components, use the language
driver 'ascii' ANSI which ships with Delphi. The following 3
paragraphs contain instructions for making 'ascii' ANSI the default
language driver for a specific database type, such as Paradox; setting
the type of a new table to 'ascii' ANSI; and changing the language
driver of an existing table to 'ascii' ANSI.

4.2. To make 'ascii' ANSI the default language driver for a database
type, from the Control Panel run the BDE Configuration Administrator,
click on the Drivers tab, choose a particular driver type,
such as Paradox. Click on the LANGDRIVER drop-down list,
     and choose 'ascii' ANSI.

4.3. To make 'ascii' ANSI the language driver for a new table, use the
Database Desktop. Click File | New | Table. Fill in the field names
and attributes as usual (using English characters). Click Modify,
select Table Language from the Table Properties dropdown list, and
choose 'ascii' ANSI from the Table Language dropdown list.

4.4. To change the Table Language property for an existing table, use
the Database Desktop. Use File | Open | Table, select the table, then
click on Table | Restructure. Click Modify, select Table Language
from the Table Properties dropdown list, and choose 'ascii' ANSI from
     the Table Language dropdown list.

Interbase tables support Arabic by using the UNICODE_FSS character_set_id.
Add the statement 'DEFAULT CHARACTER SET UNICODE_FSS to the Create Database
statement. An alternative way is to add CHARACTER SET UNICODE_FSS to Arabic text fields
in the Create Table statement. Please look at Interbase help file topic: Specifying a
Default Character Set for a Database for more information.

5. Currency, Time and Numbers
   ---------------------------

5.1. Delphi Arabic components use the W95 Control Panel Regional
Settings. Use these settings to specify a particular currency symbol,
     positioning, date separator, etc.

5.2. In order to see Arabic (not English) digits, you can choose HINDI in
the dropdown list for Numeral Style.

6. Quick Report Components
   -----------------------

Quick report components add a new property: Arabic. By setting Arabic to true, the text is
laid down on the screen or the paper using Right-To-Left reading order which ensures proper
line breaks in multi line fields (Memo) and proper handling of mixed language text (Arabic,
numbers, Latin and non language specific symbols).

7. Caveats
     ------

7.1 To change Number, Currency, Time and Date properties, it is not sufficient
to simply change the country settings in the Windows 95 Regional Settings
Dialog. You must go to the appropriate tab (Number, Currency,
Time or Date) and explicitly set the new properties. To do this, click the
Regional Settings applet in the Control Panel, which brings up the Regional
Settings Properties dialog box; then click on the Number, Currency, Time or
Date tab. Make the appropriate selection. Remember to click the APPLY
     button.
