About Object Converter:
-----------------------------
This is the evaluation version of the program for demonstration purposes only.

The Microsoft Access to Visual Basic Object Converter is an Access 2007 Add-In
utility that rapidly converts Access 2007/2003/2002/2000 Queries, Forms and Code,
Controls (including a number of ActiveX Custom Controls like the Microsoft
Windows Common Controls and the Common Dialog Control), Macros, Reports, Code
and Class Modules to Visual Basic Forms and Projects.

The Object Converter saves developers a great deal of time porting selected Queries,
Forms, Reports, Macros and Code Modules, or entire Access applications to Visual
Basic. There is no need to copy and paste code from Access to VB and re-design
Forms from scratch. Converted Forms and Code will run immediately or with minimal
modifications in either the Visual Basic version 6.0 environment.

Converting all Forms in the Access 2003, 2002, 2000 or 97 Northwind sample database
for example should take less than 1 minute to complete, depending on the speed of your
computer.

Note: Conversion of a converted Access application to Visual Basic .NET can be
achieved by compiling the converted Visual Basic project and then opening the
project (.vbp) file in the Visual Studio VB.NET development environment. The
project will be automatically converted to VB.NET code and can then be compiled
and tested to run.

Object Converter Setup:
-----------------------------
To setup the Object Converter Add-in,

1. Copy the OC2007E.MDE database to your ACCESS 2007 directory
2. Open any existing Access 2007, 2003, 2002, 2000 or 97 database
3. From the Tools menu, select the Add-Ins menu item
4. Select the Add-In Manager menu item
5. Install a new Add-In using the OC2007E.MDE database
6. Close the Add-in Manager

When complete, a new Add-In option called Object Converter 2007 Eval will be
displayed on the Add-Ins sub-menu. You are now ready to convert your Access
database Objects to Visual Basic.

Note: You can copy the OC2007E.MDE file to any directory you like. You can also
add the OC2007E.MDE directly to the Windows/NT registry if you are comfortable
with editing your Registration database file located in the Windows directory.

WARNING: This is not recommended. Use the Access 2007 Add-in Manager. Make a
backup copy of your registry first if you attempt to do this.

Start the RegEdit utility and edit the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Access\11.0\Menu Add-Ins\&Object Converter
Library entry to point to the path and directory where the OC2007E.MDE database
file is located.

Note: If the following error message displays when you try to install the Object
Converter Add-in.

'Error: There was an error copying the add-in to the Microsoft Access directory.
The add-in was not added to the Microsoft Access directory.'

Close the Add-in Manager. Exit Microsoft Access and open Access or the database
again and re-install the Object Converter Add-in.

References:
---------------
In the database that you have opened to convert your objects, please ensure that
you have the following list of References selected. You can display the References
by opening a form in code view and selecting References from the tools menu.

Here are the list of References to select...

Reference File Name
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Visual Basic for Applications VBE6.DLL
Microsoft Access 12.0 Object Library MSACC.OLB
OLE Automation STDOLE2.TLB
Microsoft DAO Object Library 3.6 DAO360.DLL
Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library MSO.DLL
Microsoft Windows Common Controls 6.0 (SP6)	MSCOMCTL.OCX
Microsoft Common Dialog Controls 6.0 (SP3)	COMDLG32.OCX
Microsoft Tabbed Dialog Control 6.0 (SP5)	TABCTL32.OCX

The following 2 References are optional and may be selected

Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications
   Extensibility 5.3 VBE6EXT.OLB
Microsoft Office Web Components 10.0 OWC10.DLL

If any of the above files do not display in References, select the Browse button
in the References dialog and locate the file on your disk. If you locate the file
and it still does not display in the list, click the Windows/NT Start menu Run
command and type the following, if for example the comctl32.ocx file was missing...

		regsvr32 comctl32.ocx

This will register the missing ActiveX Control. If the ActiveX control fails to
register, you can download the list of Access 2007 References from the IrieSoftware
website at www.iriesoftware.com.

Use the following Access 2007/2002/2000 code to check your References.

Sub ChkRefs()
   Dim ref As Reference

On Error Resume Next

   For Each ref In References
      Debug.Print ref.FullPath & " - " & ref.Name
   Next
End Sub

The output should be similar to the following...

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\VBE6.DLL - VBA
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\msacc.olb - Access
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office10\MSO.DLL - Office
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\Dao360.dll - DAO
C:\WINDOWS\System32\stdole2.tlb - stdole
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\VBE6EXT.OLB - VBIDE
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Components\10\OWC10.DLL - OWC10
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSCOMCTL.OCX - MSComctlLib
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMDLG32.OCX - MSComDlg
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\TABCTL32.OCX - TabDlg

Optional References

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\VBE6EXT.OLB - VBIDE
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Components\10\OWC10.DLL - OWC10

LightSpeed Subform Control
----------------------------------
The LightQuest Visual Basic Subform Control is an ActiveX Control that simulates the
Access Subform Control in Visual Basic. The control is provided for free to purchasers
of the Object Converter, and is available for sale on the IrieSoftware website at
http://www.iriesoftware.com.

To use the Subform Control in Visual Basic, do the following...

1. Drag the LQSubForm control onto your Form. Name the Control, say LQSubForm1.

Note: The Control is automatically included in a converted Form or Project that contains
a Subform and will display in the Standard Controls list in Visual Basic.

In the property browser...
1. Select the parent's DataSource in LQSubForm1's DataSource property
2. Select the parent's Field in LQSubForm1's DataField property

In the parent Form's code window...
1. Assuming the name of the Form you want as the Subform is frmTestSubForm
2. The Data Control you want to link to on the child Form is called Data1
3. The child field you want to link to is called "ParentID"

Add code to the main Form's Form_Load event similar to:

  With LQSubForm1
     Set .Form = New frmTestSubForm
     Load .Form
     .LinkChild .Form.Data1, "ParentID"
  End With

The Subform will now display on the Main Form as a separate Form with their key fields
linked with the same functionality of an Access Subform.

Access Report Viewer
----------------------------
The Access Report Viewer is a utility program that allows you to Print or Preview
Access Reports from within a Visual Basic program using Automation. The program and
source code is available for free on the IrieSoftware website at www.iriesoftware.com.
The Access Report Viewer can be modified to work with the Runtime version of Access
if a client does not have Access installed on their computer.
